Murad.Mohammad@mayo.edu Clinical Profile

SUMMARY

M. Hassan Murad, M.D., is a clinical epidemiologist who studies how evidence is generated, synthesized, appraised and applied. These activities can be collectively called evidence-based medicine or evidence-based health care practice.

Dr. Murad's research involves conducting various types of evidence synthesis, including systematic reviews, meta-analysis, network meta-analysis, meta-regression, meta-narrative synthesis and clinical practice guideline development. He also conducts methodology research that aims at improving the approaches of translational research.

Focus areas

Significance to patient care

The overall goal of evidence-based medicine is that patients are treated using the best available evidence in a way that's consistent with their values and preferences. This goal cannot be achieved without synthesis of the totality of evidence (the body of evidence). Synthesis of evidence provides the least biased, most precise and most applicable results and assigns a level of certainty to the results. Synthesis of evidence is therefore a mandatory step for shared decision-making and optimal patient care.
