SUMMARY

Timothy S. Larson, M.D., studies novel means for the laboratory assessment of kidney function, injury and disease. Dr. Larson's work includes studying the function of the kidney after transplantation.

Focus areas

  • Methods for precise assessment of kidney function
  • New markers of kidney injury

Significance to patient care

Kidney disease and decrease in kidney transplant function are often silent until quite advanced. Moreover, most commonly used laboratory tests are insensitive to early changes in kidney function or injury. Dr. Larson is interested in developing new methods of assessment of kidney function or injury to detect and correct kidney dysfunction before it becomes irreversible.
