    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative effects of three commonly used corticosteroids for the treatment of uveitic macular edema (swelling of the middle tissue layer of the eye)  measured by the duration of treatment effects, requirements for additional injections, and any adverse effects.

    The purpose of this study is to determine if lung ultrasound surface wave elastography (LUSWE) can accurately detect changes in lung elasticity (compliance) caused by the presence of extravascular lung water  (pulmonary edema).

  • Macular Edema Ranibizumab v. Intravitreal Anti-inflammatory Therapy Trial Rochester, MN

    The Macular Edema Ranibizumab v. Intravitreal anti-inflammatory Therapy (MERIT) Trial will compare the relative efficacy and safety of intravitreal methotrexate, intravitreal ranibizumab, and the intravitreal dexamethasone implant for the treatment of uveitic macular edema persisting or reoccurring after an intravitreal corticosteroid injection. MERIT is a parallel design (1:1:1), randomized comparative trial with an anniversary close-out at the 6 month clinic visit. The primary outcome is percent change in central subfield thickness from the baseline OCT measurement to the 12 week visit.

  • Study of Comparative Treatments for Retinal Vein Occlusion 2 (SCORE2) Rochester, MN

    SCORE2 is a multicenter, prospective, randomized, phase III clinical trial in which all participants enrolled will be followed for up to 2.5 years. SCORE2 is designed as a non-inferiority trial, with study eyes randomized to intravitreal bevacizumab (1.25 mg) every 4 weeks vs. intravitreal aflibercept (2.0 mg) every 4 weeks. SCORE2 aims to determine if bevacizumab is non-inferior to aflibercept for the treatment of macular edema associated with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), with the primary outcome of visual acuity measured at Month 6.

  • Evaluating Raised Intracranial Pressure Using MR Elastography Rochester, MN

    Investigators will compare magnetic resonance (MR) elastography and/or ultrasound elastography measurements to other forms of noninvasive methods of detecting raised intracranial pressure, including optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging measurements of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and indirect signs of raised intracranial pressure on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

  • Outcomes of Shoulder Surgery in Patients with Upper Extremity Lymphedema Rochester, MN

    The correlation between lymphedema and shoulder arthroplasty will be analyzed using medical records for all patients that came to the Mayo Clinic with a diagnosis of lymphedema within the time period of 1979-2016.

    We will use multiple variables to analyze the associations between lymphedema and multiple other factors, including infection, recurrence of disease, implant failure, etc.

  • Evaluating Marrow Edema will Improve the Confidence Level of Radiology Trainees in Detection of Pelvic or Hip Fractures No Locations

    The purposes of this study are to assess the accuracy of dual-energy CT (DECT) virtual non-calcium technique to detect subtle or occult pelvic or hip fractures in emergency room patients and to assess the impact on confidence of detection of pelvic or hip fractures utilizing the VNCa technique in radiology trainees with varying degrees of training.
