My name is Mary Prendergast. I'm one of the transplant nephrologist here at Mayo Clinic. I have primary responsibility for kidney and pancreas transplant patients, but I also work with the heart, liver, and lung transplant population. So in the Department of transplantation, the fact that our surgeons and our nephrologists are able to work so closely together with all of the other support staff that make transplant
happen is extremely important. It's really teamwork that makes a transplant come about and the ability to communicate with each other, to help each other, to recognize that every single person within the cog of the
wheel is absolutely essential to a successful transplant outcome. So I love what I do. I feel we give a lot to our patients, but they also give a lot back to us. Patients tell me all the time how much they appreciate the care that they get here at Mayo Clinic.
