A Study to Evaluate the Effects of Physical Therapy on Patients Treated with Surgery (Periacetabular Osteotomy or PAO) for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess perioperative and postoperative outcomes to date in patients treated with surgery (Periacetabular Osteotomy or PAO) for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) receiving formal postoperative physical therapy versus those patients who did not receive formal postoperative physical therapy.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All patients in the Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Registry who have received PAO for DDH in the time period July 1, 2013 – January 1, 2015.
  • Adults aged 18 years or older.
  • PAO performed by Dr. Sierra or Dr. Trousdale.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • None.
