A Study to Assess Study Design and Potential Willingness to Participate in a Future Study of Opioid Tapering

About this study

The purpose of this study is to administer a survey to elicit interest in participating in a future proposed trial involving a very slow tapering of opioid medications (approximately 10% dose reduction every month) for up to 12 months.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults 18 years and older.
  • Adult patients who receive care at Mayo Clinic Rochester Family Medicine Clinics and Mayo Clinic Health System in NW WI clinics who are receiving chronic opioids.
  • Registered users of the Mayo Clinic Connect on-line platform’s Chronic Pain Group.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Individuals below 18 years of age.
  • Patients who do not receive care at Mayo Clinic Rochester Family Medicine Clinics and Mayo Clinic Health System in NW WI clinics who are receiving chronic opioids.
  • Patients who are not registered users of the Mayo Clinic Connect on-line platform’s Chronic Pain Group.
